John Stepek writes Bloomberg's free daily investment and personal finance email, Money Distilled. He graduated from Strathclyde University with a degree in psychology in 1996, and started out in journalism writing about the specific business challenges facing family firms. He worked on the finance desk at Teletext, covering breaking news, before joining MoneyWeek in 2005 as web editor. He spent 17 years with the magazine, becoming editor, then executive editor, before leaving to join Bloomberg in 2022. His book on contrarian investing, The Sceptical Investor, was published in March 2019.
