Bio
After career spanning 25 years in investment banking, working as a broker, analyst and strategist for various investment banks in London and Tokyo, James co-founded The MacroStrategy Partnership LLP a decade ago with ex-UBS alumni Andrew Lees. James previously worked in Japan with Merryn Somerset Webb and has been a regular, if intermittent, guest contributor to MoneyWeek since 2004. He specialises in banks, monetary policy and QE and has been warning, since as far back as 2020, that the Bank of England’s irresponsible COVID response would lead to inflation, a cost-of-living crisis and a bond crash, which would ramp up mortgage costs and destroy pension pots. Sadly, he has been correct on all counts.
